Multiple instances of Thunderbird because of add-in not working in new Thunderbird

I want to know if it is possible to use multiple instances of Thunderbird (different versions!) on the same computer. The add-in "Attachment extractor" does not work beyond version 52.9.1 and it is so handy that it justifies the use of an older version of Thunderbird. However, I only need it once per month (each month!), because of invoices (yes, I work in accounting). Any suggestions would be appreciated. An update of the add-in would be more appreciated, even when payment is needed. PLEAAASE!

I regularly have a 64bit, 32bit a daily and a beta version of Thunderbird installed. You will need to do a manual install and set the install folder to something other than the default.

You will also need to turn of automatic checking for updates or you will be reinstalling after every restart. This however will be a universal setting so updates become your responsibility in all versions. You also have to be careful about which ICON is which and make sure not to mess with add-ons in the old version. Because there is nothing to indicate which version you clicked to start until you go looking, you have to be switched on to what you are doing.

The calendar in particular will mess up big time when you go back a version. So make sure you don;t try and read mail and make calendar entries while in the old version.

I also do not set the old version as the system default even though it prompts me. That just makes things messier than they already are.

But I had a look at the add-ons web page and the very latest review talks of a new add-on.

He also has a post on the German language forum here. https://www.thunderbird-mail.de/lexicon/entry/223-attachmentextractor-continued/

Perhaps he might be amenable to being paid for his time if you want him to hurry up :)
