Xfinity wireless connection requires redirect, and firefox won't load it

more options

Xfinity (Comcast) has wireless hot spots that when you connect you need to open a browser, and the hot spot routher redirects it to a log in page. Firefox won't allow the redirect from their system router. How do I make firefox follow that redirect so I can log in and connect to the Internet using the Xfinity hot spot?

First, check to see whether you have redirects blocked in the Preferences dialog.

"3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences > Advanced > General mini-tab

If applicable, uncheck the box for "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"

Personally, I've noticed that Firefox often will load a page from cache and therefore not trigger the redirect. To trigger it, you can try to hit a page you have not hit before, or modify the URL by adding something to the end of it, like

?asdf

Or if the URL already has a ? in it,

&asdf

This should force Firefox to make a fresh request.

Any luck?
