Out of the blue, starting this afternoon, Firefox is no longer displaying websites correctly. When I go to Firefox. I get a message that says,

"Sorry, Firefox is currently unsupported by iOS devices. Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox. Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox. Update on Google Play. Congrats! You’re using the latest version of Firefox. Looks like you’re using an older version of Firefox. Update to stay fast and safe."

I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled and am still having the issue.

When I go to about, it says, Firefox 25.0.1 - Funnelcake November 2013 - Mozilla28 - 1.0 - Firefox is up to date.

Some users have reported problems with AVG Security Toolbar. You should try Firefox in safe mode;

================================

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

FirefoxSafeMode

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

more options

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can also check for problems with preferences.
Rename or delete the prefs.js file (prefs.js.sav) and delete possible numbered prefs-##.js and user.js files to reset all prefs to the default value.

You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Thank you for your help. For whatever reason, I went into safe mode and the issue went away. So then I clicked on reset Firefox and the issue was still gone. Interestingly, I then went into add ons and re-enabled all add ons including AVG and closed the browser and then re-opened it and the problem was resolved. Thanks again.
