Why does Firefox not re-load tabs from last session

Even though I have it set to reload tabs from the prior session, since the auto install of FF 22 two days ago, it tells me that I'm closing more than one tab when I exit and only one tab (my home page) shows up upon restart. This has worked fine for me for years and I normally keep a dozen or so tabs open. I also notice that the history has the "restore previous session" greyed out, so that is not an option now either and I have to restore each tab manually.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing mode (Never Remember History).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use private browsing mode"

You can check the browser.sessionstore.* prefs on the about:config page and reset user set (bold) browser.sessionstore.*prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu to make sure that Session Restore is enabled and working properly.
