Since updating to latest version firefox goes to not respoonding mode every time you change to a different websight. Sometimes for 40 seconds or longer

Every time I click on a new websight the screen darkens and a not responding message appears in brackets behind the firefox tab. After some time the screen brightens and it works until you open a page on the websight and it most of the time freezes and the same thing happens.
