You can drag the favicon on the left end of the location bar onto the desktop to create a shortcut.

You can also use an extension.

No, you can't use Copy (Cut) and Paste to create a desktop shortcut.

You can paste the URL at the end of the Target field in a copy of the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click context menu: Properties), but that isn't very intuitive and dragging the favicon is easier.

The location bar is the address bar where you type the address of a website to go to.

I tried dragging the Site Identity Button favicon to the desktop after I first Minimized (made smaller-not entirely minimized) the open website so that I could see some of the desktop behind the website.

Then I dragged the favicon to the desktop and released the mouse button and it took to the desktop. Although in this case, the favicon was not a favicon but rather a sheet of paper with a folded corner (as most favicons are for websites that don't have official logos).

So now I know how to make a desktop shortcut using Firefox. But I still don't know how, or if, I can put Create Shortcut in a context menu where I can simply right click and see Create Shortcut and go from there. Is that possible for Firefox or not?

Drag site icon (which is the Address bar symbol on left) to desktop then rename shortcut to your website.

Deskcut add-on does work BUT it needs to be tweaked in the Option section after installation: DeskCut Options A. Name Tab 1. Filename Options: Generate filename from page title B. Path Tab 1. Set path... Browse... Choose where to place the shortcut (generally the Desktop) [In Win7, it's "C:\User\username\desktop] C. OK!

Now it should work!

What a pain as Mozilla should have Added a "Create Shortcut" right-click feature in Firefox!
