I just put mozilla on my old mac and I'd like to have the add-ons that were recommended. How do I get those?

Settings > Extensions and themes
There you can download recommended and search etc.
You can also search and install Extensions while on https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/
You do not need to install any of the recommended extensions unless one or more suits your needs.
For example if you deal with web sites where ads or popups occur like say some download sites like ClicknUpload as an extension like uBlock Origin can help.
