trying to reset admin password
I need to upgrade the version of firefox, it requests an admin name & password. apparently i don't have the correct password anymore.

You're using a very old version — it would be more reliable to just get a full installer from firefox.com and drag that app into your applications folder to overwrite the old one, esp. if the older version is having permission issues.
