spellchecking works in Linux but not Windows

hi, spellchecking works fine when using Firefox in Linux, but not in Windows 11. For instance, I can enter comments and replies to magazine articles while using Linux and they're spellchecked as I go by highlighting misspelled words etc, but if I'm in Windows 11 and on the same comments section, although my Firefox settings are the same the spellcheck doesn't happen. Can anyone please tell me what's up with that?

If you are using a package build of Firefox on Linux then they tend to install a lot of dictionaries and also language packs.

If you are using Firefox from Mozilla website then only a few language locales like en-US comes with a dictionary due to licensing reasons. So if you do not have a dictionary for the spell checker to use then you need to install one from https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/language-tools/ (ignore the language packs).

You've been a big help James, thanks. I had added the language packs but that didn't have any effect, but your suggestion and helpful link have fixed the issue. I can now misspell to my hearts content :)

The language packs are for the language of the User Interface or UI. It is a way to have one Firefox install but be able to change the language of Firefox menus and such between two or more languages.
