subtitles not syncing with audio in Netflix

more options

I tried to use the subtitles feature today on Netflix but the subtitles were way ahead of the audio. I cleared the cache first - no success, then I cleared all data and then found I couldn't watch any video - Error F7701-1003. I then uninstalled Firefox and downloaded from Mozilla and installed it - no success. I uninstalled it again and rebooted before attempting the installation again. Firefox message loaded on first launch asking if I wanted a fresh experience - I did and clicked the button at the end of the message (at top).

Now I can watch a video on Firefox again but I still have the subtitles sync error. All that clearing of data, and the removal and re-installation did not help. The subtitle text is way ahead of the audio. Can you assist?

Make sure you have the latest Widevine version (4.10.2557.0).

  • Tools -> Add-ons -> Plugins

You can toggle DRM off/on to see if that makes Firefox (re)load DRM components.

DRM was installed and enabled as part of the new Firefox installation done yesterday. With DRM disabled no video would play. On further investigation, the subtitle sync problem does not exist with all Netfix videos, only some. An example is: https://www.netflix.com/watch/80013712?trackId=255824129&tctx=0%2C0%2Cb98d4856-b254-46b2-a322-b7d2902fadbf-38564418%2Cb98d4856-b254-46b2-a322-b7d2902fadbf-38564418%7C2%2Cunknown%2C%2C%2CtitlesResults%2C80013712%2CVideo%3A80013712%2CminiDpPlayButton

If the problem exist only with certain Netflix movies, could the problem be with those specific Netflix movies?
