This question is on behalf of my mother, who has been using firefox for years and has an extensive 'library' of bookmarks and tags and history that she relies on and doesn't want to lose. She either never has had, or has forgotten, a login password, and when prompted to request a new one, it appears that all her existing history would be wiped. How can she ensure that all the painstaking work to create bookmarks and folders and tagged history is not lost? How can she save this data so as to be sure to be able to access it? Thanks in advance for any tips!

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles {web link} I use a Legacy add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?

What did you do and what was the message you saw?
