Setup firefox sync, can't get it running, and now can't remove it - Help??
I have used Firefox for years. I recently was given a Samsung tablet and have initially setup the product which included some google passwords. Since the base of my operations will continue to use Firefox (PC) technology, I thought it a good idea to use the Firefox technology for a multiple device password syncing process. I followed Firefox's process only to never get past making the master password setup to work. I even once got the response that the master password was set but when I cameback to it, I got the ubiquitous "incorrect password". Seeing that I am over my head with understanding what appears to be an "insiders" process, I thought I will just remove the Firefox process and move on to Google, Maybe theirs works better for dummies. I have to get the Master password to work in order to get our of this mess. Help!!! Seems like I am in catch-22.

I'm getting confused about your password(s).
The Master Password is a local password used to keep your saved logins secure. It is not the same as your Firefox Account password unless you intentionally set both to use the same password.
If you need to reset a Master Password -- this will erase locally saved logins -- see:
Users sometimes report issues with the Master Password dialog coming up unexpectedly. I can't remember what was causing that.

I was trying to be brief in my question so my request is somewhat vague. Bottom-line, I need guidance on how to remove the sync process from Firefox. I would reinstall but with information being stored on the Firefox servers, does that make the sync process go away for me? I would be using the same email address (need to). Don't understand the process to know how to get out of this. i really like Firefox but that is the only option, should I just migrate to Chrome?
Hi RonK, a Master Password is a local password to secure saved logins on a particular device. That is an ancient feature which is separate from your Firefox Account login.

Do you have a Firefox Account set up? You can check using
If you want to keep using a Firefox Account with the same email address, I would not delete the account. If necessary, you can reset the password. See: I've lost my Firefox Sync account information - What to do.

To disconnect your Firefox from the Sync service, see:
- On Windows: How do I set up Sync on my computer? -- see the "Remove a device from sync" section -- Do not delete data!!
- On Android: Sync bookmarks, tabs, history and passwords on Android -- see the "Remove an Android device" section
Reset my password per "I've lost my password" and was successful. However after accepting my reset request and then when I entered a subsequent master password, it was rejected. exactly like the experience I had originally. Where now? The response to my password entry is simply the return of a dialog window that requests the Master password again.

Your suggestion to : Reset your Master Password if you've forgotten it did the trick. I did a lot of searches with change, remove, and restore Master password but the key must have been the term reset to get to this fix. Thank you. You fixed it!
