I am experiencing a rather hard to understand problem with Firefox 61. If I open a tab on a livestream and start to navigate someplace else in another tab, the stream will start lagging massively. I can replicate the problem without difficulties: If I open two livestreams basically, the first will completely freeze as soon as I give the focus to the second, but if I focus an empty tab or static webpage it will come back right away, as if the first tab was so low on priority that it simply wasn't updated any longer.

My internet connection is clearly not a problem here (1 Gbps fiber optic, and I experience no such issues when opening even a dozen streams on Chromium) I have also tried doing the same after disabling all extensions but the problem persisted. How can I tell Firefox to stop prioritizing the current tab? Thank you

Are these from a specific site or a login site? Have you tried doing that with youtube to see if it happens there?

I tried with two streams on twitch.tv as well as two streams on youtube, same problem. A tab that is not focused will slow down to a crawl...

-EDIT- Something interesting however: If I open two streams in two firefox windows and focus any other application on my pc, even simply Windows desktop, or a static page like the very page where I'm composing that message, both streams will work perfectly fine. But as soon as I click on one stream window, the other will freeze, that just makes no sense to me.

Separate Security Issue, please update your Flash 29.0 r0 Flash Player Version: 30.0.0.113 Current Version https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

SafeMode-Fx35

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Players are in full HTML5, I don't even have adobe flash installed. Still went ahead and tried with it but it naturally didn't change anything.

In safe mode, things are actually worse. The loading of any twitch page is so slow that firefox hangs and the stream never loads (I get the slow tab warning from firefox).

Or you may want to give this a shot if have been updating for a long time : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.0 with a Full Version Installer

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
