Dear Mozilla team,

I had 2 questions for you but on my way to ask them, 2 more questions were added:

1) Why does Firefox suddenly become slower and slower to use when opened for more than 2 hours. This has never been the case for me, but over the last month (without adding add-ons or stuff like that) my browser is getting slower and slower, which means I need to restart not only Firefox but my whole PC. That's annoying.

2) After I (once again) restarted my PC today because firefox was getting slower again, I now cannot open my YouTube watch later page in a new tab by clicking it with my scroll-wheel. This has always worked, now all of the sudden it does not anymore. You can see what happens in the newly opened tab in the screenshots, also notice I am not logged in to my YouTube account anymore in the new tab and I also cannot log in, clicking "sign in" just seems to refresh that page. After this I decided to ask this support, so here are the next 2 questions

3) Why the **** do I need a separate Firefox Sync (or whatever it's called) and Mozilla Firefox Support Account. 4) And why the **** is there no "create mozilla support account" button on the sign in page of the mozilla support site. I literally had to google "create mozilla firefox support account" to make an account. WHY?

Up to now, I always liked using Firefox but with these latest problems I don't think I will be using this browser for much longer.

Update: I can open my watch later playlist from YouTube in a new tab again! Don't know what fixed the problem, maybe it was an error from youtube all along.

By the way, yes I tried reinstalling Firefox, thrice. Also in 64 Bit versions.

Glad you have resolved the problem.

Firefox support is a support website. The Firefox account is something separate and in your case used for Firefox Sync.

I do not know whether there are plans to use the Firefox Account to sign in to the support site, that may occur in the future. We have been having problems with this support site recently and have had to temporarily switch back to different software and a different server address.

Simply reinstalling Firefox does not often fix issues. Using the Safe Mode or the refresh option may be more likely to help

When multi-process windows in Firefox is enabled then Firefox will use more memory and may be less responsive. You can try to disable multi-process windows in Firefox to see if that has effect.

You can disable multi-process windows in Firefox by setting these prefs to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false
  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

I will try that, thanks!
