How can I proceed with Password Box without Firefoxs verification since Firefox 40 installed?

Password Box icon is not shown on toolbar since FF40 installed. Checked the addons and there is a "message" saying FF cannot verify the program for security and proceed with caution. Have not found a way to proceed with caution. Password Box does not have a solution/suggestion yet. Went back to FF39 but then lost functionality of search box. Have done all the safe mode stuff to no avail. Hardware acceleration is turned off as suggested. I really like FF with the exception that each upgrade creates so many problems that it takes 2 or more weeks to correct. That gives me about 2 weeks of great function before the next upgrade comes out. Checked the box which says ask before upgrading but that didn't work either. Mozilla seems to override that command. Running Windows 7.
