I would like to print the contents of a mail in gmail, and not everything around it. Using print frames does not seem to work, it is grayed out.

Is there a solution for this ? I read somewhere that sometimes something that looks like a frame is not really a frame. The mail content 'frame' can be scrolled up and down, while the left (gmail info frame) and right (adverts) remain in place.

Are you printing through Preview? When Firefox 29 was released some users noted that printing frames did not work if you were accessing Print through Preview. Instead, you had to access the Print dialog directly from the page, for example, by pressing Ctrl+p.

For better results, though, could I suggest using the print-formatted version of the message? Above the message you should find a printer icon that will pop up a cleanly formatted version of the message (by default, the new window is diverted to a new tab).

Thanks a lot for the tip, the gmail print icon is the perfect solution.

I did not notice the printer icon in gmail, as I went straight to the Firefox pint functions. As the print icon is placed next to the subject text, it dissapears immediately when you scroll down. It would be better if google placed it in the top frame, next to the other icons, so it would be bigger and remain visible when scrolling down.
