PDF file attachment does not print correctly
Something seems to have changed recently with the PDF rendering in Thunderbird. I received an email with a PDF file attached. When I view it on the screen it looks fine, but when printing it out from within Thunderbird part of the top of the first page missing; it looks like part of the image is behind a white rectangle.
When I save the file and print it using Acrobat Reader it renders fine.
I don't know what to make of this behavior, but it does seem to be new and there is a difference between how the file is printed from Thunderbird as opposed to printing using Adobe Reader.
Thunderbird 152.0.1 on Windows 11 PC.

I don't know about Thunderbird's built-in viewer, but you could avoid the issue entirely by specifying that it open in your PDF viewer of choice. See <Settings | General | Files & Attachments> and change the action from "Preview in Thunderbird" to Ask or Use Application [whatever].
For what it's worth, I just printed a PDF attachment from the Thunderbird viewer to a PDF printer, creating a new PDF. It looks normal. Not sure if this proves anything.
Thanks for that Lin, I didn't know I could select a different viewer.
BTW, I printed the file to a PDF file from within the Thunderbird viewer and it exhibited the same problem.
I was thinking/hoping the developers would like to know about this problem.
Is it just this one PDF or others, too? Maybe there's something peculiar or non-standard about this one file. Can you try opening the PDF with some other viewer besides Acrobat and Thunderbird, a browser, maybe? Edge or Chrome or something - Firefox might give the same result, as their code bases are related.
Hi again Lin! I strongly suspect it is this one file. It is simply curious that what lands on the printer is different from what is on the screen, and so wanted to report it. As I said, I can get it printed using Acrobat so not an issue for me.
