As a Thunderbird user and supporter, I have never had this current problem. I have two PC's this one running windows 11 version 128.2.0 (64 bit)and the other running Linux Mint. However the version on Linux is 115.13.0 (64 bit). Both have one add-on for google email, calendar, and contacts. to stay in sync. In trouble shooting I have disabled the extension's.

Before the update to 128.2.0 I could scroll back a month and open any email coming to me. However in this version I can only go back 6 days of messages. The 7th day and older will not open. On my Linux Mint system with 115.13.0, I can go back years and open any message.

Is there a new setting that changed all this? I was under the impression all messages were saved to my local drive and not pulled off the Google server. 73's Ed

I use Thunderbird on Windows 10; I have a verizon.net email account which I access through Thunderbird. Verizon.net email is transferred to the server from AOL Mail, and I have been able to get and send my emails on Thunderbird at verizon.net for years. This week, after Thunderbird's latest update, I have not received any incoming mail on Thunderbird, but I can see my emails on AOL Mail. The technical expert I consulted deduced that the problem is with Thunderbird such that AOL is not connecting to the incoming mail server, even after the password was changed. I can send messages successfully from Thunderbird; the outgoing mail works.

I tried changing the authentication method to OAUTH2 for my Outlook live mail account (POP). For that, I had to change the server name to office365.com. After restarting Thunderbird, I was able to download new messages but all the old messages already stored in Thunderbird disappeared, even though Thunderbird still shows the same old Local Directory as being used.

How do I change the authentication to OAUTH2 & get my old messages back?

If I delete & again create the Outlook live account, would it effect my old mails/filters ?

I have used MailStore Home to archive then export an Outlook PST file into Thunderbird. The Export appears to have worked, but I notice that the resulting file structure in Thunderbird Local Folders has "MailStore Export / Outlook Outlook Data File / Inbox", with all my folders residing under the inbox folder (which they should). Is there a way I can change the Local Folder structure to remove the top level "MailStore Export / Outlook Outlook Data File" and leave the top level as "Inbox"? See image.

My Thunderbird just upgraded to v128.2esr Nebula

I was using Cards view and it was nice, but it seems the Cards just got wider vertically. They used to be 2 lines of height, and now they are 3 lines.

As I understand, the 3rd lines is only used to display "X replies", but I use the "Unthreaded" sort option, so the 3rd line is always empty for me, and takes more space for nothing.

As you know, vertical screen estate is limited with our 16:9 screen, so please give us an option to reduce the cards view vertical size (or have it automatically remove that 3rd line in Unthreaded view)

thanks

Using TB 115.15. When I move a large number of messages (200 or so) to a sub folder the move goes fast until it gets toward the end, then it locks up until it finishes a few minutes later. When I tried to move over one thousand messages at one time, I let it run overnight, some messages moved, some only moved a date header of some earlier time (all the same time) and all messages were left intact in the original directory. After moving the messages a few at a time, I had to manually delete the duplicate messages in the sub folder. What is the maximum number of messages Thunderbird will move at one time.

I have a pretty extensive set of email filters to put incoming email into folders based on incoming email address. Have just noticed it applying a filter to an email that does not have a matching address in the filter. Turning off that filter is not an acceptable solution. The filter log shows it matching a filter that does not have that address in it. How to fix? its not happening with all messages. but looking thru log or all email to find important emails is not practical.

filter log excerpt:

[9/11/2024, 3:34:01 PM] Applied filter "hotels" to message from <mcpc@morrisparks.net> - RecTrac Receipt at 9/11/2024, 3:32:37 PM moved message id = 95ccf257-c6d1-4b01-bc11-4420f2465e1f@parkexchange.morrisparks.net to mailbox://nobody@Local%20Folders/Sales/Hotels

I don't know if there is any way to reload those messages or something like that. Please help if you know any possible solution. Thank you in advance

Suddenly today I stopped getting new messages in my inbox with Thunderbird. My wife shares our internet provider and she has continued to get hers. Using Windows 10 PC. I get the little Tbird icon telling me I've got a new email, but it does not show up in my inbox, or in any other Tbird folder. I get them only on my iPhone and iPad. No problem with my internet provider, Spectrum. The app shows that I'm on v. 115.10.1. It also showed that an update is available, v. 115.15.0. I went through the update process, including restarting my computer, and when I checked it still showed that I was actually still on v. 115.10.1, so the update apparently didn't actually install. I have no clue what's going on or how to attempt to fix it. Like I said, all is well with my wife's Tbird messages. She continues to get new messages. I can send an email from my section to hers, and it goes to her inbox just fine. Cannot send to me from hers though. If anyone can help I would be very appreciative. Thanks Stewart Wolfson

I moved a bunch of emails from one folder to another within Thunderbird and now those messages will not load in the new folder and so are inaccessible. Any thoughts? The target folder populated with hundreds of inaccessible messages all bearing the date of the transfer rather than the actual message dates (and it represents four years of messages in that folder, properties shows that there are 2424 messages. I tried "repairing" the folder but that did not make those messages accessible.

Why is there a limit on how many messages - or maybe it's the total size - can be stored in any given sub-folder? T-bird's message is not enough space, try to empty the trash folder.

I have plenty of disk space, so asking if T-bird has internal limits? I've always kept many messages, so any limitation is disconcerting. I can make more sub-folders, but maybe there's a limit on that as well?

Should I be saving messages in the Archive/Local folders?

Is there a section here for suggestions? I'd like to have an option to have just one Trash folders for all accounts. I'd also like to suggest a shortcut icon to go to next message, since the mouse is already in my hand.
