Firefox crashes when system file dialog is displayed

  • Until two days ago, running Firefox in Windows 7 compatibility mode solved the problem. However running Firefox in Windows 7 compatibility mode now results in blank tabs - similar to as described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1231445.

So I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I have to switch off compatibility mode for browsing to work. But then Firefox crashes any time I want to download or upload a file.

If anyone has any idea's I'd appreciate it. I really don't want to be forced back onto Chrome...
