How do I move an addon from the TOOLBAR into the PUZZLE PIECE list? I can get them OUT onto the Toolbar.

Also, the Customize Toolbar / overflow menu won't accept anything, the addon just pops back out when dragged from the Toolbar.

I cannot for the life of me figure this out. Whenever I load a website that needs location (for example, Google Maps or my province's lottery) and enable location permissions, the websites come back saying they cannot find my location.

I have refreshed Firefox, disabled all Enhanced Tracking Protection, disabled all extensions, and have even ran Firefox in Troubleshoot mode - all to no avail. Is there any way this can be fixed? These websites all work on Chrome and Edge and work on my Firefox for iPhone.

On Windows 10 22H2.

Ever since upgrading to FF 140 yesterday, there is a new icon labeled "Manage use of DRM Software" in the browser just left of the URL, which violently shakes every time I open a website that requires approval to play DRM content.

Now, I do not play any DRM content and have deactivated anything related in the settings, yet every time I open e.g. discord.com where users might embed music or videos in chat rooms (that are optional and ignored by me) that silly icon starts shaking again, which is super annoying.

Is there a way to remove it altogether, or AT LEAST disable the shaking?

After my last Windows 10 update this week, suddenly, Microsoft Family safety settings STOP Firefox from starting up! Can't start Firefox. DRASTIC! DEVASTATING So I HAD to import everything from Firefox to Edge browser, just to send this message. But I left Firefox as my default browser. I am the head my Family group in Family Safety settings.

After clicking on Firefox I get the following message from Family Safety: "You can't use Firefox because of your family safety settings, but it doesn't hurt to ask" Then there's a place to click on: ASK TO USE(Firefox)

Before clicking on this I removed internet access to my machine. ASK TO USE is a permission FROM Microsoft that never comes if clicked on. These people have HIJACKED my ability to use Firefox.

They should be sued.

Hello. I use Firefox on an computer with Ubuntu, (installed as snap) and have noticed that since the update to version 140 (specifically, version 140.0 canonical-002-1.0… (funda okungaphezulu)

Hello.

I use Firefox on an computer with Ubuntu, (installed as snap) and have noticed that since the update to version 140 (specifically, version 140.0 canonical-002-1.0), closing a tab causes a noticeable delay : that is, upon any action that would close a tab (clicking on the cross, pressing CTRL+w, or middle clicking), there is a delay of about 200 to 300 ms before the tab is actually closed.

However, during this delay, the window still responds to inputs, leading to rather annoying situations. For example, during regular usage, I usually open a great number of tabs. When I am done with browsing, I close them, by repeatedly clicking the cross button on the tabs. It used to be that the tab under the cursor would immediately close, then the next tab would slide under the cursor, and I would click again to close that one, etc.

But now, when clicking the cross button, the tab is not closed, and when I click again after a small delay (because of muscle memory), the tab is still there. This cause the two single clicks to be treated as a single double-click, which for some reason puts the window in full-screen mode (but only with the snap version; I'm not sure what's going on here).

When using CTRL+w when closing tabs, the delay is still there, but the inputs are correctly handled. If I press CTRL+w three times at the usual rate, I can see the three key presses, then nothing happens for a few instants, then the three tabs close at the same time (i.e. the delay is from input to tab close, not from tab close to other tab close).

This behaviour is completely absent on Firefox (also version 140) on my windows computer.

This delay does not appear when creating tabs, and it does not occur either when closing the window or when closing the last tab in the window (leading to an amusing situation where shutting down Firefox is actually faster then closing a tab). These operation keep going at their previous speed, immeasurably fast to the human eye.

Navigation does not appear to be meaningfully slower than before the update, and the CPU/memory usage is very reasonable.

Curiously, this appears to be a fixed delay. Closing an empty tab takes the same time as closing a very busy one. Closing a tab when there are five takes the same time as closing a tab when there are thirty.

This issue makes browsing feel incredibly sluggish.

Is there a solution for this problem ?

Edit 1 : I have tried to run Firefox in troubleshoot mode, but there was no difference in behaviour. Edit 2 : Fixed typo. Edit 3 : Added exact version. I also tried to refresh Firefox, but the issue remained. Edit 4 : The problem is still present in version 140.0.1 canonical-002-1.0.

It seems there is no process in place for checking if recommended add-ons are still worthy of being recommended.

Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express is a prime example. It hasn't worked for a long time, was last updated in April 2024, and the developer no long responds to any form of communication. And yet it still one of your recommended add-ons. How can this be? Not only should it not be recommended, it should be removed.

Hello,

I am trying to download a few JPG images from Meetup.com. Here is an example URL:

https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/5/0/a/highres_528673578.jpeg

This is CLEARLY a JPG image from the URL. However, when I right click on the image to Save As the only choice given is AVIF! I cannot open or use AVIF files. As you know the conversion process is LOSSY so trying to convert BACK to a JPG format is not recommended.

It is fine if Firefox and other browsers want to use AVIF format internally but you should, at least, give users the OPTION of downloading the native format.

So how do I fix/configure Firefox to provide the native JPG file download?

Thanks, Steve

Getting around latest security "features" for access to GUI devices

Hi,

I work in a technical profession where we have large amounts of GUI-configurable equipment. Firefox was my go-to browser to configure and maintain this equipment. Up until today, when version 140 installed unexpectedly.

There is no https in this equipment, no certificates, no certificate server, no DNS. Just a LAN cable, peer to peer, to use the browser as a GUI to manage the equipment. There is no need for high level security either, since there is no internet.

Now how do I do this? In previous versions of Firefox it was possible to override the security warning and proceed anyway, which is what we did. Now we don't get the option to override, and it does not appear there is any way to change this behavior in the settings. This heavy handed nanny stuff does not sit well with me and it has made Firefox 140 essentially useless for my purposes. I've rolled back to a previous version of Firefox for now.

Can someone tell me why it is if I'm on a tab and either accidentally or on purpose click the home icon the tab will shut down, and be replaced by the home page? What type of backwards reasoning went into that feature? I've had this happen numerous times without intent, and sometimes with the intent to hit the home button and either way the same thing happens. If it weren't for the browser keeping a history, there are times I would be just out of luck, and have to suck it up. This is not a feature I want in a browser. Instead hitting the home button should forward the tab I'm on to the home page with the ability to back click to the tab I was on. Someone needs to re-think this feature. I would really like to have someone on the development team address this issue.
