I am running windows 7 - FF 14.0.1

I cannot get rid of yahoo for search in search bar and resets to yahoo in search engines pres -no matter what I've tried - I had a YTD youtube downloader addon - i removed it - I change about:config url to http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

when i check again - the damn yahoo is back i try to change browser.search.param.yahoo-fr;chr-greentree_ff&ilc=12&type=937811

the system won't let me.change or remove

Do i have to do a TOTAL deinstall and reinstall of FF?

I like FF but if this continues I will have to change to another browser - I've done software since 1978.

Try:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If you do not keep changes after a restart then see:

I had to ---> Help > Troubleshoot

about:support

Reset Firefox to its default state

     If you're having major problems which you can't resolve, start fresh with only your essential information.

then I got my themes addons etc

everything seems to work - but what a pain - I hate yahoo and its spawn babylon - all that add it without permission should be sued for the time effort and aggravation that they cause - I am tempted to start a boycott!
