Bookmark or link not switch to page after clicking on link
Somehow I changed something and I don't remember what I did. When I click on a link or bookmark another tab is opened, which is what I want, but my browser doesn't go to that page automatically. How do I get the browser to go to the link I clicked on? I'm using Windows 10 with Firefox 159.0
Thanks, Rafal

open in a new tab Enter in the address bar about:config Search for these three separately browser.search.openintab browser.urlbar.openintab browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs the value from false to true
I checked and they are set to true. I restarted Firefox and nothing changed.
Hi rafal, there actually are some additional preferences that control whether Firefox switches tabs immediately.
The main one is here:
Settings > Tabs and Browsing
Under Tabs, Opening, the second checkbox -- "When opening links or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" -- will handle regular links.
Changing the behavior for bookmarks requires a return trip to about:config:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste inBack and pause while the list is filtered
- "browser.search.context.loadInBackground" => refers to the right-click context menu item to send the selection to your default search engine (default: false = switch immediately)
- "browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground" => refers to bookmarks (default: false = switch immediately)
- "browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground" => refers to popup windows diverted to a new tab instead (default: false = switch immediately)
- "browser.tabs.loadInBackground" => refers to links you Ctrl+click or middle-click to direct to a new tab using the right-click context menu (default: true = do not switch)
You can restore a default value using the left-arching reset button at the right end of a row, or double-click to toggle between false and true.
That did it!!! Thanks again.
