firefox takes too long to download all of content when i just need to do a quick email check. can I simplify firefox to just open my email account?
i would like to use firefox without waiting for all the social commentary/news articles to download this really slows down performance unnecessarily.

How are news articles related to your inbox?
Oh you don't have to use the "factory" home page — there's preferences to e.g. open your email site or anything else directly there, see: How to set the home page
