Firefox fails to retain the positions of windows when reopened.
Hello everyone,
When I reopen Firefox for any reason (starting/restarting any of my machines, etc.), the browser fails to "remember" the order of the windows from the last session, i.e., if I had, say, six windows open in the last session, it only keeps the first window in its position, while the other windows are swapped around, so the second window becomes the fifth, the sixth becomes the second... etc. every single time, I'd have to exit Firefox and reopen it several times just to get the windows back to the order I had them in last. This issue is present on all of my machines, and has been around since at least Firefox 35. Is there a way to get this corrected?
Thanks in advance.

Are you using Sync to sync the tabs?
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and Tab Groups and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Yes, I am using Sync to sync everything across all my devices. However, I don't have any problems with sync. What I do have an issue with is that whenever I reopen Firefox, it takes me several exit-reopen cycles to get the windows, or "Tab Groups" as you've called them, back to the order they were in originally down at the Windows Task Bar. I'm not losing any tabs or tab groups, it's just that they get moved around in the Windows Task Bar, and I have to close and reopen Firefox several times to get them to where they were originally. I have this problem with all of my Windows machines (but not on my single Ubuntu machine, because Ubuntu's Unity and other desktop environments handles things entirely differently.)
