Now, I have to click into the search bar to type. That's annoying.
Anyone know how to fix this?

No sure if this is the right topic. When I search something and go to the tab section, all the news sources are redirected from MSN. I don't want to see MSN holding the article from a legit news source, I want to click the news article it comes from. I hate MSN, I just want to access the news from the original sources. (example MSN
How do I fix it so I get news sources that originally hold the articles?
This is such an irritation I will be forced to find a new search engine if this is not fixable.
Any help would be appreciated-- especially if you are able to walk me through the steps or provide me a link to a specific source as I don't know much about settings etc.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and (hopefully!) help.

Where are all the tabs for the research I was working on? I stepped out of my office for a few minutes and returned to a very proud message declaring that Firefox had auto updated and now better than ever. Only all my tabs are gone. Why does every other browser save and restore tabs when updating, but not Firefox??? Do I have to go back to Safari or Chrome? This cannot happen!!!

I am afraid to update to Firefox 124 for fear of losing the existing order of 100s of open tabs if the default setting of ordering tabs by "Recently Opened" kicks in before I have a chance to change the setting to "Tab Order". Can anyone help me? I'd like to upgrade to 124 if I can do so safely!

Hi,
I use the latest FF for MacOS.
When I "close" Firefox by clicking the red cross in the top left corner of the window, I lose all open tabs when I start again despite having the option of restoring the previous session checked. When I "close" the whole thing (right click on FF in the Dock, Quit, and then re-open), all my tabs are back normally.
So basically every time i click this red cross, by mistake or not, I lose anything that's open.
Feels like I did not have this issue before.
Anyone has a workaround or experiences a similar issue?
Thanks!

In my location, my only option for internet access is a mobile hotspot with limited data. Consequently, I am always mindful of my data usage when using my laptop. Despite primarily browsing static pages, email, and other low-data activities, I often find my data usage higher than anticipated. The main culprit comes to mind to be videos embedded in news articles. Sometimes, with multiple tabs open, I switch to an inactive tab only to find a video playing. Although I've configured my Firefox preferences not to autoplay videos, it seems that YouTube videos still override these settings.
So, my question is, when a tab is inactive, does Firefox stop all data transfer for that tab in the background? And if not, what are the solutions to stop any background data other than continually closing all tabs?
Also, any suggestions on this topic are appreciated, especially from and to users who also live in remote areas without fiber, DSL, etc.

Yesterday I had an event in which, due to some combination of computer glitch and user error, my Firefox window was closed and then Firefox was shut down in a two-step process. This left me with a sessionstore.jsonlz4 file consisting of no open tabs but with an enormous closed window full of tabs. I've used this utility to verify the contents of my sessionstore file.
I know how to rescue a previous session's tabs according to these instructions. I've done it many times. However, this time I'm finding that the only way to access Recently Closed Windows seems to be to first Restore Previous Session, and the only way to Restore Previous Session seems to be to have at least one tab in the sessionstore file that is not in a closed window. Therefore, I cannot access the tabs in my sessionstore file.
The best solution I can think of would be to edit my sessionstore file so that it contains at least one tab that is not closed. This would allow me to Restore Previous Session, and then find the tabs I want under Recently Closed Windows. However, I do not know how to edit a sessionstore file.
