Why do I have to clear my cache every 30 minutes on average?

more options

On average, every 30 minutes or so when I open a new tab or refresh a current tab, the page is completely distorted, links or text missing, and other various caching issues. WHy does this happen so often? It is very annoying that I have to manually clear my cache every 30 minutes.... if I get up to eat dinner or watch a show or any other number of things... when I return my browser does not cache pages properly and I have to manually clear it every time.

This happened to me in the past and eventually went away... but after I upgraded the browser, it began doing this again. I am having to resort to using Internet Explorer against my wishes just so that I am not annoyed by this. How can this be fixed for good?

If by any chance you have a Samsung PC/laptop, this problem of random cache clearing has been associated with a program named Samsung Help Center. You can search around to see whether there is a fix available, or whether the best course still is to uninstall it.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Actually I do have a Samsung Laptop... I dont use the program but I see it pop-up all the time. I will try uninstalling it and report back!

Thank you.

UPDATE: I have just uninstalled Samsung Help Desk & Samsung Support Center - I will report back with any changes.

UPDATE 2: OK, so after 24 hours after removing the Samsung programs above, I have not had any cache loading issues... I have not had to clear my cache. Kudos for the suggestion!

I uninstalled Samsung Help desk and that didn't work for me. I then uninstalled Samsung Support Centre and that still hasn't worked. Please help, I don't want to switch straight back to Chrome BUT Mozilla isn't doing it for me

Hi cwec, after uninstalling Samsung Support Centre, Firefox's cache remains corrupted and needs to be cleared. After that, it should work again.

Windows: orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
Mac: Firefox menu > Preferences > Advanced
Linux: Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

Can you get it back to normal?

Hi cwec, there are other reasons that Firefox might not load pages completely, so if the above doesn't work, could you start a new thread? I'll also refer you to a general help article.

I've put the first suggestion into play & I'll give you feedback later. Under the Network mini-tab there was a box to tick to override automatic chache management. Would it help if I ticked that box?

Hi cwec, you only need to override Firefox's automatic cache management if you want to limit it to a smaller amount of disk space. On a new system, you probably don't need to worry about that. So for now, I would leave it on automatic.
