Have to admit that I never have been a fan of FF, but have been using it for several years in order to search for info, while typing on Safari (or vice versa). Originally started out with an earlier version of FF, but when advised to upgrade to a newer version, I tried, but found it did not work well with my Mac OS (10.4.11).

I honestly don't remember if I gave up and stuck with the original version or finally got 3.6.12 to work, but have been using it for close to a year until the past few days when it stopped working as described above. Sometimes can get it working by clicking on the "remove all history" button, but after a few minutes, everything freezes in place again.

Maybe you should update to the last Firefox 3.6.28 version.

You can find the latest Firefox release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
