Hi there,

This website's really twisting my mind: I posted some question some time ago and there is no way to get back to it because my dashboard is empty and there is no apparent link to the questions section of this website. Thanks to Google I sneaked my way through https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions and then only I could find my question again.

Turning in circles again and again on a website is not nice for the end user. I know you seem to want people to go through your troubleshooting process---which I can understand, but all I want is to review my already asked question.

It would be nice if you added some link somewhere---if I missed it, please point it out to me.

Regards, Benjamin

So can't switch to a tab via the command line AFAIK.
So best would be to start Firefox normally and switch to that tab.
You can use Ctrl+number (1-8) to quickly go to one of the first 8 tabs.

You can go to the main forum index page and make sure that you are logged on (click Sign In).

If you are logged on then you see a My Contributions item in the Filter bar at the top that goes to:

Use the cursor Right key to select an item marked as Switch to Tab in the drop down list to copy the URL to the location bar instead of clicking the mouse. Press the Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to Tab" and see the URL. If you need to open such an URL in a new tab then use Alt + Enter or middle click the Go button or use Shift + Enter to open an entry in the current tab.

Thanks. It did not answer the above question though.

Once the URL https://.../questions/ is found it is not difficult to proceed. However, from the Firefox Support Home Page there is no obvious link to the former.

I am not sure whether the last part of your reply intends to respond to this question or to https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/que.../861790 /questions/861790 in either case, I am not sure how that is related.

Thanks. Benjamin

Your question is about "Switch to tab" that appears if you type an address in the location bar that fits the address of an already opened tab (try % to see them all).

If you highlight an entry in the drop down list via the cursor Down key and hold down the Shift key then you will notice that the "Switch to tab" text is replaced by the URL.
Use Shift + Enter to open that entry in the current tab.

Question https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/861790 asks whether it is possible to switch to tab from command line. That is adding an option to the command line so that Firefox opens the desired URL in an already existing tab where that URL already is open.

I imagine a command like firefox --switch http://my-url.com

It would be useful for URL launchers, that point to a specific URL (like your Gmail inbox) to which you might want to revert to, without opening another instance.

Thanks. I sent this as a suggestion for Firefox development.
