How do I fix: The Plugin Check comes up EVERY time I start Firefox, AND I've installed Adobe Acrobat over 3 times but it still shows up as outdated

I crammed the info into the subject line, but to repeat...

Every time I start Firefox, the Plugin Check runs. Every ... single ... time. Very annoying. How do I get this to stop?

AND

I installed Adobe Acrobat at least 3 times, but it still shows up as "outdated". Obviously, it only truly installed once, but I tried clicking the button in vain hope that that will fix it.

But really, I simply don't want the Plugin Check to start every time.

thx

Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter.
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Pref = plugins.update.notifyUser if it shows as True, double-click that pref to toggle it to False

Alas, I already tried setting it to False (read it online somewhere) and it doesn't work. Perhaps if you could give guidance on why the Adobe install isn't completing, that would solve the plug-in check issue... Fingers crossed.

A couple users have had success by removing the Viewpoint Media Player (it's responsible for the MetaStream 3 Plugin r4 you see in your plugin list). Apparently, it's no help if you only disable the plugin, you must un-install Viewpoint Media Player from your system (i.e., go to Add/Remove Programs in Windows).

Does that help at all?
