When I click on Firefox to open it, I will get the little "hourglass" from my cursor saying the computer is thinking (it's actually a blue circle rotating since I am using Windows 7), but Firefox never actually opens. When I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open the Task manager, I have a program called "firefox.exe *32" (without quotes) running. If I have hit the Firefox button to open it a few times, then there will be several instances of Firefox open. Interestingly however, these proceses do not use much memory - they use between ~200KB and 2,000KB of memory.

I have done pretty much everything I know how to do. I have done a simple reboot, I have done every single thing listed on

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/firefox+will+not+start#Firefox_previously_worked

including creating a "new user profile", but nothing works. It's strange because this has never happened before. I vaguely recall just recently updating to 3.6.11, but this might have been awhile ago. I can VERY RARELY get Firefox to actually open when I click it (once maybe every 10 or 15 tries, and usually only RIGHT after I reboot), but this is a very annoying problem. Help :(

I have the same problem. FF used to work, but now has stopped. I uninstalled it and deleted every reference to FF I could find on my computer including registry entries and stray user, plugin, cache and theme data. I've tried with the current stable release as well as Beta 4. Nothing seems to work.

EDIT: I tried installing the latest version of Minefield x86-64 and it started without a hitch. I tried installing with a different language pack (en-US instead of en-GB) and tried changing the name of the program folder, still to no avail. Minefield x86-32 will NOT work.

This seems to indicate to me that the issue is unique to the 32-bit version of Mozilla.

I'm having the exact same problem. It started after I upgraded to 4.0. The only way I can get Firefox to come up is to reboot my machine. I have tried everything, also, in the above listed articles.

Everything was fine until Adobe crashed so I updated it and then I got a Java update message almost as soon as Adobe had been downloaded so I naturally updated...at first it worked fine with the updates installed...and now zilch it will not open.
