Hi all

Running Firefox 3.6.8 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Firefox worked fine for 2 days, and now I'm having a weird problem. When I download a file, the download goes as usual, but when it ends, I can't clock the Open/Open Folder options from the Download Menu. When I'm trying to locate the file at the folder I d/led the file to, I don't find it. Same thing happens with the "Open" option, and with saving images. The only way I can save anything is to drag a picture from the browser to a folder

My Addons are

Adobe Contribute Toolbar Better Facebook! IDM CC WOT [Web Of Trust]

Tried to reinstall it, nothing. Tried to do a clean install, nothing. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance

Found a solution, for the others who have the problem

Cancel the FF Virus scan that is launched once the file is finished downloading

quoted from another forum

" the SOLUTION which i got thanks to what someone else said was to disable the auto scan in firefox. to do this you have to type in "about:config" in the address bar then click the i'll be safe or something button, then type in "browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone" in the filter bar near the top one option should show up that says true under the value double click it and it should then say false and also all the text should go bold. "

Worked for me.

Eksh,

Thanks for posting how you solved the problem. For the record, that solution is in the Knowledge Base, here:

What to do if you can't download or save files .... under Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences

Had this program last night on my new notebook, running windows 7 64bit and Firefox 3.6.8, when I would download a item it would look like it was in my download folder but the second I would close Firefox it would disappear .

I found for some odd reason uninstalling my Virus software "NIS2010" rebooting and reinstalling it fixed the program. Don't know why it did this but it has something to do with Virus scanning in Firefox, didn't do this with IE, also I would like to add it did this only with my main limited user account and not my admin acount.

Yeah, okay, but what's causing the problem? Faulty FF antivirus? What triggered it, and why is it flagging/deleting ALL downloads??

jaquody, this thread is over a year old so I'm locking it but maybe this will answer your question (Please start a new thread if it doesn't).

The problem could be with your computer's antivirus software - maybe you disabled it, changed its settings or partially uninstalled it? You could try uninstalling and reinstalling your security software, which was the fix that resolved the problem for the person who posted before you.
