Favicons disappear when mouse hovers over close tab button

I have another kind of problem with Firefox
Description
As far as I can tell, this has only started to happen in the last couple of days. It may be related to the latest update (3.6.6), but I can't be sure it wasn't happening earlier. Anyway, the problem is this: When I start up Firefox or open a new tab, the favicon for that page displays normally on the tab bar (to the left of the page name on the tab). But if I happen to pass the cursor over the close tab button (to the right of the page name on the tab), even very briefly, the favicon disappears and is replaced by the default, blue globe icon. I should also mention that when I pass the cursor over the close tab button, the button itself seems to disapper, though it reappears when I move the cursor away. This latter phenomenon has occurred for as long as I can remember, but it only ever bothered me a very little. The newer, disappearing favicon problem is more annoying, though not yet a deal breaker.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in safe mode (don't forget to select Disable all add-ons when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See this article for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme and this one for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

FWIW, I was having this problem and was able to fix this by disabling the Tab Mix Plus (0.3.8.4) add-on. Maybe it was a conflict with another one, but I found I didn't really need that plugin anymore so it was an easy fix.
I have a empty box where I assume the "favicon" used to be on many (most of my bookmarks both on the tool bar and in the book mark folder. All I have is square empty box. How do I get the picture/favicons back. This happened after the upgrade this morning to version 8.
