Connection has timed out for only certain sites
Hi, since a couple of days ago, I am having trouble opening a select few webites and get the message that they have timed out. They are popular ones, ebay.ca, BBC, and chapters.ca. I also cannot view the itunes store in itunes, although I am still able to update podcasts. The only thing I did recently to the computer was uninstall norton, and install Microsoft security essentials. I have xp and firefox 3.6.3 I've searched for solutions and have cleared cache, cookies, updated java, ran norton removal tool, removed cookie file, tried no proxy, tried auto-detect proxy...and I am stumped. I don't know what else to try. Any ideas?

I think its related to Firefox
I have the same problem since I updated to 3.6.3 Three diferent machines with the same problem, 2 at home and 1 at work.
My problem has been resolved. I called my internet provider to get some help because I had no problem getting these websites when I used my aircard with the laptop, but when I went back to using the modem, couldn't get them. He went in and did something with the settings to the router, and since then it's been fine.
I get "The connection has timed out" error on certain websites like moneycontrol.com adobe etc started getting this error after i formatted my computer
But only in Firefox. Once I hit Try Again, it loads fine. This does not happen in IE though so I'm pretty sure it's Firefox related
I am convinced that this problem is Firefox-related because I only ever seem to have it when I'm using Firefox (I'm using 3.6.12 currently). My problem occurs on web sites that I use quite a lot and I never had a problem until after Firefox had been updated. The trouble is that I have been getting this problem for so long that I can not remember the update that caused the problem. This is most frustrating when it happens on web sites for my online banks. Clearing the browser cache does not work (or may only work temporarily). Marcus
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

This "time out" applies to my Google home page, Google search, and Gmail. All others are as fast as ever. Is there a way to increase the time to a couple of minutes so Firefox wont time out?
