I've used FF for coming up to 15 years, i don't know if it's related to the update but potentially so - videos (notably youtube e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIzgSwgvmtw just don't seem to play right now).

The video will play for 0.5s, and then freeze whilst the loading circle revolves, but the audio continues. Seeking on the video causes same isse. Randomly sometimes it works.

Have tried - Disabling extensions - Safe mode - Reset profile - Updated all drivers and windows - Restarted FF and machine - Updating some items found here (https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/wwnxtu/youtube_videos_freezing_since_updating_to_1040/) - Disabled hardware and combinations of above

Unsure what to do here, seems to work okay in other browsers, been happening for a few weeks so far. Netflix has similar but not as bad, youtube seems biggest offender but maybe because i use it the most

To add extra info - 16GB memory - Nvidia 3070 GPU (games and other more intensive tasks work fine) - Windows 10

I think this may also be happening in other browsers too, contrary to what i said previously

It sounds like you've been using Firefox for a long time, and lately, you've been facing issues with video playback, especially on YouTube. The problem is that when you try to watch a video, it starts playing for a moment, and then it just freezes while the audio continues. This can be quite frustrating, especially if you're a regular YouTube user.

You've already tried quite a few things to fix it, like turning off browser extensions, starting Firefox in safe mode, resetting your Firefox profile, and updating your drivers and Windows. You've even looked for solutions on Reddit, but the problem persists.

Here are a few more things you can try: Clearing your browser cache and cookies, making sure your Firefox is up to date, and double-checking that your graphics drivers are updated. You can also try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox settings. Sometimes, other software like antivirus programs or browser extensions can interfere with video playback, so make sure to check for conflicts there. Lowering the video quality on YouTube might help, and if nothing else works, consider creating a new Firefox profile or even doing a fresh Firefox installation. Lastly, don't forget to back up your important data or bookmarks before making any big changes to your browser.

If none of these steps work, you might want to get in touch with Mozilla, the organization behind Firefox, or ask for help on their support forums. Also, keep an eye out for new Firefox updates because they might contain fixes for known issues.

I hope these suggestions help you get back to smooth video playback!
