Hi I have been a user of Firefox for many a year, and this is the first tme I've come across an intrusive problem. Since updating to the latest version, I find I can no longer change the icon on a URL shortcut. I had quite a few of them, which helped distinguish (obviously) what I might want to select. That was then. Now, I have a load of indistinguishable Fireox logos which make finding the shortcut I want imossible. On going to change the icons, I find the Website Document tab in properties is no longer there .. while I have Firfox installed. Remove Firefox and the capability magically returns. I have re-installed Firefox in case of corruption, with no change. Before I remove Firefox permanently (which I'd be loathe to do), does anyone know the cause ... or solution or workaround?

Sorry folks. False alarm. I have now done what I should have done in the first place and looked at it logically. I suddenly realised that a few days ago we had a momentary power outage ... enough to collapse the machine. So I uninstalled Firefox (for about the fourth time :-( ) but this time expunged everything I could find referencing FF. I have now re-installed and everything is as it ought to be. I do find it odd that a corruption might have an effect on the format of a system dialogue. Anyway, thanks for your interest.

Hello,

I believe this may be a limitation on windows' side. You may be able to remedy this by making a .lnk shortcut with firefox and the command arguements being the url.

Umm! ... not too sure about "may be a limitation on Window's side" If that is the case, why is it that it is only Firefox that seems to have this problem? I have tried one or two other browsers and they seem to have no problem. I have already tried your idea, but the system told me the link was not correct and rejected out of hand. But thanks anyway for the thought and reply.
