Any help about this matter would be greatly appreciated.

My firefox plays videos with no problems and then suddenly I am given this message "It seems your browser is blocking 3rd party session cookies which are required for the Kaltura application. To resolve this issue, please update your settings to allow 3rd party cookies."

I have had this message appear 2 times before and to resolve it I tried: uninstalling firefox and its contents, updated the privacy and security info, removed extensions and was able to get the videos playing again. THis time around I have tried everything listed above and any articles from the support page. I have tried turning on and off my laptop while doing all these steps and still no resolution. Again any help on how to combat this message would be greatly appreciated.

I have looked at previous help like: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1351539 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1363165 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1363998

Hi, another Kaltura user mentioned this a little while ago (unsolved):

I downloaded and ran the previous version of Firefox and did not run into this issue. Why did the new update cause this problem? Will it be resolved in a future update or do I need to use an older version of Firefox?

This is a new issue in Firefox 96 which is not addressed by the third party cookie settings because it is related to what is considered same site versus third party in the first place. Please refer to the other thread for more information.

I was not able to access Kaltura created videos in Canvas after updating to Firefox v96.02. "Access Denied" was displayed where the video would normally show.

I downgraded to v95.02 and the videos are now available and play normally.

Obviously an issue with the latest version of Firefox.

Hi jscstudios, Firefox 96 modified when cookies can be sent "cross-site" to conform to how it is done in Chrome and Edge. Obviously there are some site compatibility issues. (For example, Bing doesn't send Firefox the same cookies it sends to Chrome and Edge.)

You can temporarily roll back the change affecting Canvas/Kaltura integration to the Firefox 95 setting, under the covers:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(B) In the search box in the page, type or paste laxByDefault and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault preference to switch the value from true to false

Most likely, that will take effect immediately, but in some cases, you might need to clear existing cookies for the site or quit Firefox and start it up again.

Hopefully we will get a better understanding of how to set exceptions in the future so Canvas/Kaltura users can benefit from this change while using other sites.
