Since switching to Firefox I'm experiencing some trouble regarding the playback of videos on different websites which I don't experience using other browsers. At seemingly random moments there are 'stripes' visible which are quite annoying watching a video (see image). I tried restarting Firefox with Add-ons disabled and unchecked 'Use hardware acceleration when available' in the preference section but this doesn't resolve anything. Any suggestions on how to solve this? Thanks in advance!

Make sure you have packages like FFmpeg installed so you can fully support HTML5 players that many websites like Youtube uses otherwise you will be more limited.

Did you close and restart Firefox after disabling "Use hardware acceleration when available" ?

Does it make a difference if you make the player window smaller ?

You aren't using a proxy or VPN ?

Already installed it, as well as Ubuntu Restricted Extras but still no luck.

Unfortunately not, resizing doesn't make any difference whatsoever. And no, I'm not using a proxy or VPN. Got any clue what it might be?

It may be worth mentioning that it also occurs scrolling down when a YouTube video is full screen, which makes me think it doesn't necessarily have to do something with video playback.
