I have Firefox-32 and -64. Does 32 do something 64 doesn't, or can I safely delete the 32bit version?

What will I lose out on if I delete Firefox 32 bit? I'm on a pc with Windows10.

The 64 bit Firefox version is usually the best choice on a 64 bit platform. Only if you have software that doesn't work nicely with 64 bit Firefox then you can consider to use the 32 bit Firefox version, but 32 bit applications can only use 4 GB and they run less smoothly. So if you aren't using the 32 bit Firefox version then you can remove this version. If you used this version with its own dedicated profile folder like Firefox normally would do then you can remove its profile folder as well, but make sure you do not remove the profile used by 64 bit Firefox.

You can find the path to the profile folder on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder. Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

You say "if you have software that doesn't work nicely with 64 bit Firefox ... ". What does "work with" mean? I'm not aware of any software that needs to "work with" Firefox. I think of FF as a stand-alone application, independent of all others. Can you give me an example of some other software that might "work with" FF?
