HI McCoy I did contact them about it, but still it isnt the addon thats the problem... Firefox is the problem

With fingerprinting fully disabled in about:conifg, google should not have this info whether i'm using an addon or not.

Whats the point in disabling fingerprinting in about:config if it doesn't work... thats what the features for right?

I'd like to know how google are still extracting this info and how to stop it, also why the features that are supposed to stop it have no effect.

Its not cool that FF is leaking information about my system to google, especially when I have FF set not to do such a thing.

Firefox doesn't   "leak"   information ....

Every website you visit can detect things like which browser you are using and which OS;   just like they will also detect when you are using an ad blocker.

Yes i've seen those type pages, they all say i'm using windows as per 'user agent switcher' settings.

As FF is my only connection to the internet, it can only be FF that google is getting this info from. Seeing as I have all fingerprinting disabled + a user agent switcher, this is unexpected.

Google must be and is clearly getting this information from FF somehow.... hence FF is leaking this information.

you're using an ubuntu provided build of firefox - the default google search plugin they include, passes along this attribute as this is supposedly part of how they earn money (by getting commissions on the ad revenue your searches through ubuntu are producing). mozilla's builds behave similar, but say "firefox" instead of "ubuntu" here...

This will happen if you use a builtin search engine like posted above. You can search directly via the Google website or another search engine's website to have more control or install a search engine via the mycroftproject.com website or use a keyword search.

Thanks, that answers the riddle... basically FF are getting paid by googhell to install googhell spyware into FF browser.

THere is absolutely NO NEED WHATSOEVER to install GOOGHELL spyware into FF just to enable a 'search google for...' feature. The fking GENIUSES at MOZILLA could of simply had FF direct to google.com and to perform a search through a link - NO GOOGHELL SCUM SPYWARE IS NEEDED FOR THIS FUNCTION!!!!

The fact that it is an installed feature it a testamanet in itself - ITS SPYWARE!!!!

I came to this browser years ago from IE because I found out about the despicable invasive spyware that is IE and googhell.

After years of using this browser and actually starting to enjoy it, I started to find out more and more uglier and uglier things about mozilla, things that made me doubt whether my privacy was in fact safe as they have so strenuously protested since conception.

I knew about many things in about config that needed to be disabled to protect my privacy whilst using FF. As a result ive spent countless hours reading up and investigating what needs to be disabled. As such I found tons of things that needed immediate action, for example:

I thought I was safer having done all that stuff, but after reading more and more I'm now convinced that all that is a complete waste of time.

Unfortunately this entire browser is a big dirty piece of privacy invading spyware, but at least while i'm forced to endure it for longer I have this 1 small thing resolved.
