Using v. 67.0 on Win 7 no matter what page I am viewing, if I leave to look at a different page, then come back, the page reloads. It is especially annoying when clicking on a link in an email. Note I do not have to sign back in. I just have to wait for the page to reload. It only recently began doing this. How do I fix it ?

Hello fichendich,

This sounds like one of the new features that came with the update to Firefox 67.0 :

See under "New" - suspending unused tabs

And also :

https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2019/05/21/latest-firefox-release-is-faster-than-ever/

If you want to disable this feature :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter
(promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

browser.tabs.unloadOnLowMemory

and set its value to false

Then close and restart Firefox.

I get around this by; When I find a link I want to check out, I open it in a new tab/window. Then when I am done, I close it and am back where I started.

@ FredMcD

This is not about using the back button, but about Firefox unloading not selected tabs when they haven't been used for a while, so if you return later then the tab needs to be reloaded. This can happen with your suggestion as well if there are memory issues (less than 300 MB available) and it would take a longer time before returning.
