The backspace key works as a navigation key to go back or forward in history when you are not in a input or text area. There is only a way to disable this feature completely in case you activate this action inadvertently.

I find it a bit of a useless as a "consistancy" fix and i cannot use youtube search bar because it goes back a page.

If someone from Mozilla reads this:

PLEASE! IT'S 2019! REMOVE THIS FEATURE. YOU NO LONGER NEED TO TRY TO EMULATE INTERNET EXPLORER. DISABLE THE BACKSPACE WORKING AS THE BACK BUTTON BY DEFAULT, A FEATURE THAT COMES FROM THE CAVEMAN ERA OF THE INTERNET.
