HI, sorry your upset abut the Refresh feature. It should say that your stuff can be found on your Desktop in a Folder called OldFirefoxProfile.

Or there can be a 2nd Profile folder made and your looking for the oldest dated folder in this location :

What's What in the Profile :

  • bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
  • bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
  • cookies.sqlite for the Cookies
  • formhistory.sqlite for saved autocomplete Form Data
  • logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
  • if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db
  • cert9.db (58+) or cert8.db (57 and older) for (intermediate) certificates stored in the Certificate Manager
  • if you only have cert8.db then make sure to remove an existing cert9.db
  • persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary
  • permissions.sqlite for Permissions and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for other website specific data (Site Preferences)
  • sessionstore.jsonlz4 for open tabs and pinned tabs (see also the sessionstore-backups folder)

fyi for the future :

Please when working with the Profile have Firefox shut down and only work with copies.

I had a message that Firefox 'seemed to be slowing down'. I noticed that little blue circle keeps spinning a lot before downloading info. Reading here, I see Firefox may delete my info if I choose to refresh. Don't want this to happen ! Should be another way to speed up without losing everything !

The Refresh procedure does no delete saved usernames / passwords or bookmarks, but all other data and extensions would be toast. And as mentioned the Refresh leaves a folder named Old Firefox Data on the desktop

But if the user gets tired of waiting for the Refresh procedure to be completed (it can run for as long a 5 minutes with no "progress meter" showing) and the user ends the firefox.exe process via the Task Manager - ALL data will be gone, with no way to recover that data. I did that the first time and lost all my data - but I had backed up my Profile ahead of time just-in-case.

Sounds confusing at best. Is there a simpler procedure to just delete some of the excess ? Once, I accidently deleted everything when trying to delete cookies. Hasn't been the same since. I have to sign in with email address & username both every time i want to go to the inbox.
