After reinstalling Firefox I now cant use hyperlinks in a document (although I can from an email) to open a browser page
I now can't use hyperlinks in a document (although I can from an email) to open a browser page. Instead I get the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
This wasn't happening before we uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox a few days ago to fix another problem. There have been Windows 10 updates recently, but they did not cause this problem. It started after we reinstalled Firefox.
I don't have a "system administrator" and I don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions? This is the first time I have come across this problem. I don't use any other browser except IE occasionally.

I would like to thank both gentlemen for their assistance. I am not competent to edit the Registry or follow moderately complicated instructions around things like that, but in due course I got hold of a friend who does have this competence, and in fact he found the page that Jscher2000 mentions here, and that has fixed the problem. And I now have working hyperlinks again. And know slightly more about Registries than I do before.
PS I would like to add that, for the only moderately technical, the problem with instructions is often not that they are wrong or very difficult to understand, but if you DO go wrong, or fail to know something you need to know which is not explicit, you have no way of unravelling your mistake. So it's better to leave things be. But I do read these replies. Sorry it's taken a while to come back.

There is a issue in 59.0.1 please update to 59.0.2 released this date that fixes a like issue : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/update-firefox-latest-version
Do not count out those updates as not being the issue. Google the KB#'s to find out what they updated. There is talk of Spring Creators Update (to be released in weeks) that MS will force opening some hyper links in Edge. If google : windows 10 default for opening hyper links | you will find people with the issue.
You say you do not have Admin Privileges/you do not have a system administrator ? What are you trying to do when this error occurs ? As a Right Click and run as will fix that or log in as system admin if that is how set it up.
Please use windows search and type Troublershooter, when see it in the list Right Click and run as Admin. Note what it fixes.
- Repair System Registry and Files
Do please do this : 1)Type cmd in the search box from Start. Then right-click on Command Prompt to select Run as administrator. 2) Type or Copy/Paste the following commands and press Enter after each. Reboot after 2nd one finishes.
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
If see No component store corruption detected. You do not need to run below
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

Do you mean a document in a Microsoft Office desktop application like Word or Excel?
If you uninstall an old installation of Firefox on 64-bit Windows and reinstall it, usually the program folder changes from
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
to
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
Unfortunately, the Office suite gets befuddled and stubbornly clings to the old location. (I would be surprised if you don't have this issue in Outlook, too.)
