SSL_ERROR_CODE_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP - How do I fix this?
This message has appeared after a Firefox refresh. I've found one answer which involves editing a security tls version fallback=3 to =1 but I'm not brave enough to do that without reassurance that it would be safe to do so.

Is this problem only in Firefox?
Generally speaking, you should not need to change any settings to make secure connections to reasonably well run websites.
Devices with old firmware such as routers and NASes can be more of a problem.
One effect of a Refresh is to reset your Firefox connection setting. To experiment with that:
- Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
- Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
- Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
- Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it
Firefox 56-58: In the search box at the top of the page on the right side, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Settings" button, which you can click.
Firefox 38-55: In the left column, click Advanced. Then on the right side, with the "Network" mini-tab active, click the "Settings" button.
In All Versions: The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. You may want to try "No proxy".
Any difference?
I've tried all the network proxy options but none of them made a difference. The problem seems to be with one website - a bank. I can't access it on the iPad either.
Since have done a Refresh how about uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. Install Firefox 57 Final Version from here : https://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Mozilla-Firefox-for-Windows/1032985422/1 This will be on the Mozilla servers tomorrow as a download and/or update. Think of this as nice clean fresh code not update after update. Note : Legacy Extensions will be disabled and or removed.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hmm, maybe you can alert them to the problem in case something is going wrong over there.
jscher2000. I found a thread relating to this error with complaints about contacting the bank. The reply is that their software is working fine and that's it as far as help goes. I've sent an email but I'm not holding my breath waiting for a reply. The error seems to have been cropping up over the years.
Pkshadow. I followed your advice but there is no difference.
I had a go at changing the tls fallback limit in config but that didn't work either.
Is there anything else I can try?
I don't see the bank's URL in this thread. Do you want to submit it to this page to test the quality of their secure connection settings or indicate other issues?
I ran that labs test and then found in the terms and conditions that you're only supposed to do that with the permission of the website. Truth is, I didn't understand it anyway!
I'm spending far too much time on this so I have printed out the error messages from Firefox and Chrome. Next time the bank van is here I'll take the info in. In the meantime, I'll be back to writing cheques and asking for paper statements. They won't like that.
There are no problems with any other site, including banks. Emails are coming and going OK.
Thanks for your interest and help. Appreciated.
