Since "upgrading" to FF54, I've had to disable most of my add-ons including Classic Theme Restorer. I'm trying to get the UI back to a semi-familiar format. Using the Customize feature of the tool bar, I am unable to find the previously available options to display text with the navigation buttons, or add a blank tool bar that I can move the buttons to. Can these features be accessed from within FF, (maybe form "About:Config" options), or do I have to wait for someone to start developing add-ons compatible with your new design?

I've used FF and Thunderbird for many years, even contributed to Mozilla. It's always been a great browser, which I recommend to anyone who'll listen. Please don't turn FF into a Chrome clone.

Classic Theme Restorer is compatible with Firefox 54 and should work.

Why did you have to disable this extension?

You will need this extension to be able to select icon and text in its Options/Preferences (Toolbars tab).

CTR did not work properly, interface items relocated and could not be restored properly. Button size became very small, hiding the text behind the menu bar, and could not be resized. Only way to get things even remotely usable was to disable it. In any event, CTR will not work in a few months, I need a via solution going forward. Thanks for your reply.

Did you try to ask advice at the mozillaZine support website of this extension. There you can also try to ask if this feature is possible in a WebExtension.

Per the Developers web site:

"This add-on will stop working when Firefox 57 arrives in November 2017 and Mozilla drops support for XUL / XPCOM / legacy add-ons. It should still work on Firefox 52 ESR until ESR moves to Firefox 59 ESR in 2018 (~Q2).

There is no "please port it" or "please add support for it" this time, because the entire add-on eco system changes and the technology behind this kind of add-on gets dropped without replacement."

Thanks for the input.

The full extension including all features can't be ported to a WebExtension, but it could still be possible that some feature can be ported like the one you are talking about. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
