I am Jewish. I can ignore adverts for pork products during my general browsing, but when I go specifically to websites like "Joy of Kosher" or other specifically Jewish websites, I do not appreciate being shown ads for Subway Korean Pulled PorK Sandwiches or Subway Lobster. This happens all too often and is extremely offensive. Furthermore, these ads do not ever appear when I am on other websites, only Jewish ones. I must demand that you stop. It is obscene.

Mozilla has no control over what other websites put out. But we can help,

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

Adblock Plus {web link} Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).

Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon {web link} Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon extends the blocking functionality of Adblock Plus to those annoying pop-up windows that open on mouse clicks and other user actions.

Neither the company Mozilla or the Firefox web browser inserts ads in any websites. This is the website doing and the Ads could vary depending on the Ad system in use (google Ads for example) and sites you have been to.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ Some like uBlock Origin better compared to the Adblock extensions.

I wonder whether those sites know it is happening. Have you contacted them? They might appreciate some screenshots of the problem. This article has tips on that: How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

In case you have a bad add-on which is replacing the site's regular ads with its own ads, you may want to take a close look at your extensions. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. All extensions are optional. If in doubt, disable.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Contact the website where that happens!

Whoever owns the website should have control over the types of advertisements that appear on their website. And if they don't, it's time for the website to switch to a different source for their advertising, one that filters their ads more carefully.

Imagine a website based in or carrying content about Saudi Arabia that attracts a majority of Muslim viewers having advertisements for alcoholic beverages.
