Firefox won't load ANY websites--even Google--because of an "Insecure Connection." And yes, I've deleted cert8.db and changed my avast settings.

Firefox couldn't even load it's own "Thanks for downloading us" pages. Same error.

Advanced: www.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

Error Code details:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl

Peer's Certificate issuer is not recognized.

HTTP Strict Transport Security: false HTTP Public Key Pinning: true

hi Shrilaraune, your secure connections appear to be intercepted by an untrusted third-party program on your system. please uninstall any programs related to VertoAnalytics (SmartApp?) from your system control panel and run a scan with various other security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. That finally makes some sense. I installed smart app myself after vetting it though, so I trust it. Is there a way to make it a trusted application for firefox? I do need it (smart app) running on my computer more than I need Firefox (at this point) which I'm hoping to use exclusivly to help me in my language studies. Thanks in advance

you could try exporting the VertoAnalyticsCA certificate from the windows trust store into firefox, like jscher2000 described it here for another provider: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1068675#answer-745280
