virus scan clean task monitor network tab shows many ip addresses send/get data only 1 firefox tab open what are they & how block? browser often nonresponsive
Ran virus scan nothing - browser crashing & memory use high opened task monitor/resource monitor and noticed under network many different Ip addresses some sending & receiving data all under Firefox which is the only open browser and only 1 tab was up Why are all these IP addresses showing - where are they coming from and how can I block them? Deleted all cookies & temp files from cache but didn't seem to lose the IP addresses Eventually they disappeared one and a time leaving only what I assume is mine Not networked but share router with other devices. Windows 7. I'm not tech - AT ALL - Thank you!

Parts of Firefox have their own jobs, and 'call home' when FF is running.
You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Is the problem still there?
While still in Safe Mode,
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

Thanks but before I came here I ran spybot, malawarebytes and ESET online scanner and rootkit - nothing found.
Its not really a crash report - it is just that the cpu rages and I'm not seeing any or many apps services or programs going outside what's normal/necessary but checking task manager network I saw all sorts of IP addresses in there looks like sending and receiving data when I only have one website tab up so I was worried/curious about what they are, where they come from , if it is unsafe ect but can't find any virus or spywear. Only with firefox running and no other computers shared with mine.

hi, even when you have just one tab open doesn't mean that there will be a connection to only one ip address. websites commonly load many elements from third-party-sites (resources hosted on content-delivery-networks, ads, "social" buttons, etc.) - this can be visualised by the lightbeam addon for example: https://www.mozilla.org/lightbeam/

Did not realize that. Thanks. I thought they could only post cookies and frankly, I'm not sure what that is except I clear them and don't allow 3rd party cookies. Bunch of questions now - any way to prevent that - any way to see who those IP addresses belong to if their getting and taking data from computer and could that data be stuff I wouldn't want stolen or be a back door to getting control of my system or seeing stuff even though I have unchecked remote control in control panel systems and spyware, virus scans ect aren't picking anything bad up? My touchpad sometimes goes wild but I think that's a Vaio quirk. In any event, so when I close out of that particular website - all those IP addresses should disappear right? Thanks again.
Anybody know how to disconnect those connections - or if you even can? I see them when the task monitor is open but when I right click I don't get an option to end it without loading lightbeam? I like being able to see the actual addresses the IP belongs to but I'm afraid to add lightbeam since Firefox is already running at such high resource use.
