My laptop has XP sp3 and all of a sudden in the last few weeks I have been having connectivity issues.
I do not have Nvidia Forceware Network Access manager" or any nvidia program installed. I reinstalled Firefox and it worked for about 2 hours then same issue. No matter what web site I visit I get the error message "Firefox can not find server". I found that when I first turned on my laptop it would work for about 3 minutes then stop. I am connected to the network. My laptop is 32 bit so I can not try the 64 bit solution. I am not in a position to purchase a new laptop as well as purchase the office software which I would have to do as it came preloaded on my current laptop. Nor do I want to have to learn a new operating system and upgraded programs. I am not a technical person, but I can follow instructions. I am using someone else s computer to send this . hope you can help.
Thanks
Not too sure about the plug ins installed. I will copy the list and check so I have the info when I get a reply.

Please do not ppost that unless someone asks for it. Your plugins may not be the issue.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.

This Connection is Untrusted is sometimes caused because the computer system clock is wrong. Check the time / date / time zone settings.
Thanks you for your reply. I am unable to start Firefox (or internet explorer for that matter) at all. I am suspecting it has something to do with updates to software. I have run system restore twice now Back to Nov 14 and have no trouble connecting for awhile, but then automatic updates quick in that is the end of that. My computer shows, and my provider confirms, that I am connected to the internet just that the browsers no longer work. This morning I turned off automatic updates (I realize security may become an issue moving forward) but they occurred while I was messing around. I am now running system restore for a 3 time. This time I will switch off internet connection and change my settings and see what happens. Any other suggestions?

Open the settings for your firewall. Locate the "rules" that allow programs to access the web. Delete "Everything," all the rules.
If the problem is still there,
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
