Using Thunderbird version 38.1, Windows 7, 64 bit version, Pentium CPU

I have installed Enigmail, it seems to be working however, now myu emails are ALL formatted to about half the width of the available space and are it seems without HTML formatting as they were before. How can I either disable the whole of "digitally signing and encrypting email messages" and enable when needed, or instead perhaps have two different profiles in Thunderbird, or instead is there another alternative to accomplish this desired end result as only rarely is encryption needed. Thank you
